Biography
Born: Houston, Texas Studied Art: 1977-1978 at the Greenwood School in Putney, Vermont; Michael Collins School of Art in Houston, Texas; 1985 Laguna Gloria in Austin, Texas; 1986-1988 Art Institute of Houston. Medium: Oils and Acrylics and Mixed Media Style: Abstract Expressionalist/Action Painter Focus: Texture, Color & Applications I gained an interest in art as a child due to my dyslexia. The schools I attended focused on individual expression, which inspired me to reach within myself and create a world that defines and captures my feelings on canvas. At the age of thirteen, I fell ill and went into a coma and was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes. To help regulate my disease, I began to ride a bicycle and became involved with road racing. At age 15, I was asked to train at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs because of my talent as an up and coming rider. During this chapter of my life, cycling gave me an outlet to express my emotions and see the human form in a different light. I was able to train for the Olympic games from 1980-1992. In the span of these years, I achieved a number one ranked rider in the country and was asked to represent The United States of America several times in my career. At this point in time, I am painting full time focusing my energies in explosive colors and abstract forms.

Artist Statement
I love my work; it is “joyous, enlightening and successful”. There are no limitations on the means to create beauty. Taking properties that are usually not combined and finding ways to make them work together is one goal I set while painting. I am continually developing forward each day as I paint. My work is about movement and the intensity of color and form on the canvas. The eye of the viewer should be drawn in and feel an awakening of their senses as the movement in each painting touches their soul and their thirst for beauty.
